Through the Grapevine

Every week we pose a different question to our readers. Answers should be no longer than 100 words. All readers in San Juan County are invited to participate. Please e-mail responses to Colleen Armstrong at carmstrong@islandsweekly.net by Thursday at noon.

Last week’s question:

What did you think of the recent “Fiddler on the Roof” production at Lopez Center?

From Mari-Ann Kind Jackson in Seattle:

What a delightful evening at the Lopez Center!

Being a guest of Raiti Waerness’ is always a royal treat — she chooses great events to which to invite her “city friends.” Because of this, I had great expectations of both the dinner at the Bay Cafe and the Fiddler on the Roof; however, I had not expected to be completely emotionally overwhelmed. The performers drew me in to the lives of the characters they represented with empathy and understanding. Had I not known better I would have believed this was a professional troupe. Each and every performer gave their all, and had us at times rolling with laughter, and at times the tears were rolling — this poignant story line was given beautiful reality. My sincere thanks to the producers who had the guts to put on Fiddler, and to the performers who so eloquently portrayed the many characters. Congratulations to all. The Lopezians are indeed lucky to have the talent and skill shown and shared.

This week’s question:

What is your favorite part about spring in the San Juans?
