Wanted: science wizards

The seventh Annual Funhouse Science Fair will be held Saturday, March 29, from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Funhouse on Orcas Island. The event is open to students of all grades on Orcas, Lopez, Shaw, Stuart and Waldron islands. The high school division will be open to students from San Juan Island for the first time. The fair is free and open to the public.

The Funhouse and the Orcas Island Historical Museum, two of Orcas Island's leading educational non-profit organizations, are again collaborating this year to benefit our islands' intellectual climate. “Love is Here to Stay” concert to benefit Lopez Animal Protection

Tenor Stephen Oles and pianist Marjorie Stensrud will perform songs on the theme of love by Gershwin, Rogers and Hammerstein, Rodgers and Hart, Jerome Kern, Harold Arlen, Andrew Lloyd-Webber, Joni Mitchell and others during "Love is Here to Stay" on Sunday, March 16, at 4 p.m. at Lopez Center. Admission is free; donations will benefit the Lopez Animal Protection Society (LAPS).
