Lobos Volleyball team is ready for the season

Submitted by Karrie Warner.

Let me introduce myself, my name is Karrie Warner. I have the privilege of being asked to coach the 2021 volleyball season while our beloved Marina is on maternity leave. I have not been able to coach since I have moved to Lopez Island two years ago and I am so excited for the opportunity to get back in the gym.

The girls and I have been working hard in the gym to make this year a great one. I have three returning seniors Sophie Allen, Camille Steckler, and Sara Greacen who have been awesome to coach and are the best role models for the younger athletes. We have five freshman athletes: Hailey King, Matilda Twigg, Lily Nichols, Ruby Ervin-Mclean, Nonie Prout, and two sophomores: Jade Gonzales, Amelia Patino whose hard work and dedication is going to pay off for them, and is giving a lot of promise to the future of Lopez volleyball. Our returning juniors Tara McDonald, Valentina Rendon, and Jamie Armstrong are going to be strong players for us this year and I feel are ready to take on the leadership role next year.

This year we are working hard on serving, passing, and playing aggressive. I know this year is going to be fantastic. These girls are so smart and easy to coach. Their love for volleyball matches mine and I feel like this combination is going to take us far this season. GO LOBOS!
