Searching For new community heroes

Puget Sound Blood Center workers want Lopez blood donors to feel like heroes.

The last blood drive was conducted in record breaking heat. The ferry was late. The opening of the drive was delayed half an hour while donors waited, and still Lopez donors contributed a record 54 units of blood.

Lopez is fortunate to have a dedicated group of volunteer blood donors who regularly take time out of their schedule to donate the gift of life. They are Lopez heroes. But the need for blood is constant.

During the summer, new donors are important to keep the blood supply at stable levels. With some regular donors unable to donate because of summer plans, Lopez Lions are hoping to see new faces, Tuesday, Sept. 22, noon until 6 p.m., at the Community Church in the Village.
