October is National Breast Cancer Awareness Month and women at PeaceHealth Peace Island Medical Center can utilize the benefits of three-dimensional (3D) technology as part of their mammography screening and breast health practices. Digital screening mammography complements the growing portfolio of diagnostic imaging services, which include state-of-the-art CT scanning, X-ray, echocardiography and MRI available at PeaceHealth Peace Island.

“With October’s national spotlight on breast health, it’s timely that we are able to offer patients the newest Genius™ 3D Mammography™,” said Jack Estrada, chief administrative officer (interim) for PeaceHealth Peace Island. “One in eight women will be diagnosed with breast cancer in their lifetime, and mammography is the only screening tool for breast cancer that is known to reduce deaths through early detection. It’s just as important as ever for women to schedule their regular breast exams as part of their overall health and wellbeing practices.”

Peace Island Medical Center offers a full range of mammography screening services including 3D mammography that provides earlier breast cancer detection for women across a variety of ages and breast densities. Greater accuracy means better breast cancer detection and a reduced chance of additional screenings.

Regular mammograms are essential to early detection and the treatment of breast cancer. If you’re due for your next exam, schedule an appointment today by calling 360-788-6345.
