Steve Horn’s exhibition “Pictures Without Borders, Bosnia Revisited” will be featured at the Embassy of Bosnia and Herzegovina in Washington D.C. from May 8 to June 30. He will give a slide show and talk at the opening reception on Thursday, May 8.

One day they are visiting local farms to see baby goats and lambs, and another they are learning about boats at Islands Marine Center. Children are noticing that masses of eggs are changing into tadpoles and are creating small rivers and bridges in the playground sandbox. Early childhood teachers provide a nurturing environment, honoring the social, emotional, cognitive and physical development of each young child’s presence each day at the Children’s Center.

Washington State’s newest Scenic Byway is also the state’s first scenic route to include a “marine highway,” which is an historic canoe route of the Coast Salish peoples.
Bringing 15 different local conservation organizations together in a summit in celebration of Earth Day proved to be beneficial to all. “We all have similar goals,” said Lincoln Bormann, director of the San Juan County Land Bank. “It is helpful to meet like this to avoid working on cross purposes.”
The Enchanted Quilters of Lopez Island are offering a chance for all San Juan County quilters to get together for a day of sharing, talking about their craft, and socializing.
The Sea Goose, a 45-foot powered pontoon barge, was recently hauled out and underwent major work to turn her into “the mothership” for Islands’ Oil Spill Association, San Juan County’s only oil spill response organization.
From movie nights to storytelling to reading programs, the Lopez Library is a hub of activity for community members of all ages.
