Lopez beach cleanup Oct. 30

Lopez has seen another summer come and go. Though beach visitors are generally respectful and take care to leave no trace, there’s always a bit of cleanup needed.

Tides will be rising higher as the island moves into winter, so people must act now to prevent garbage from washing out to sea.

Lopez Island Conservation Corps (LICC) and partners, invites members of the public to an island-wide beach cleanup on Sat. Oct. 30. The group will meet at Paper Scissors on the Rock at 10 a.m. The LICC recommends that participants come prepared for all weather, and also bring a lunch. This event is open and free to the public, children must be accompanied by an adult.

Participants are encouraged to R.S.V.P. For more information, contact LICC program leaders, Charlie Behnke and Amanda Wedow at l.i.c.c.team@gmail.com or call 468-3754.
