Liquor control board cites two businesses

The Washington State Liquor Control Board (WSLCB) and the San Juan County Sheriff’s Office cited two businesses in San Juan County for alcohol violations following an August 8 joint undercover operation conducted by the two organizations.

The Washington State Liquor Control Board (WSLCB) and the San Juan County Sheriff’s Office cited two businesses in San Juan County for alcohol violations following an August 8 joint undercover operation conducted by the two organizations.

Officers checked 10 businesses during the undercover operation. The Lower Tavern of Orcas Island was cited for over-service, as was their bartender on duty. The China Pearl Restaurant of Friday Harbor was cited for over-service and licensee disorderly on the licensed premises.

The WSLCB regularly works with local authorities such as the San Juan County Sheriff’s Office to visit businesses licensed to sell alcohol. These businesses include spirits, beer and wine restaurants, large grocery chains, neighborhood markets, taverns, wine bars and sports/entertainment facilities.

Other businesses checked on August 8 and found to be in compliance were:

Lopez Island: Galley Restaurant, Islander Restaurant.

Orcas Island: American Legion, Rosario Resort, Vern’s Bayside.

San Juan Island: Roche Harbor Resort, Peppermill Restaurant, and Herb’s.
