SPLASH, a fundraiser and informational gathering about the Friends of Lopez Island Pool (FLIP) is scheduled for June 21, 5:30 p.m. at Lopez Center.

There will be a potluck and dancing, so bring your favorite dish and put on your dancing shoes!

There will be a special silent auction of small swimmers (yes, you read it right) that have been decorated by local artists. They are, of course, unique – some are tame while others are wild. You’ll have to see it to believe it.

Other items at the auction include a professional photo of your boat in full sail, a massage, a day on a charter boat, and ski lessons. Please contact Linda Barton at 468-4655 to make a donation.

FLIP is now incorporated with 501c3 status just around the corner. The site for a pool has been narrowed down to only a few spots. In-kind gifts, such as digging of the hole and water catchments are now part of their plans.

FLIP has the addition of new committee members, including a professional grant writer who has been successful in grants for pools and a marketing specialist who is overseeing the committees and coordinating the group’s efforts!
