Come one, come all to the Lopez Community Fireworks Salmon Barbecue

The Lopez Community Fireworks Salmon Barbecue is one of the ways that this all-volunteer organization raises funds for the community’s wonderful fireworks display. We would like to thank Ed Seifert and his wife Joyce for their dedicated service doing a wonderful job organizing this event for many years. We would also like to thank Denise McIntosh for her great job in assisting Ed in this event for the last few years.

This year Lia Noreen heads up the Salmon Barbecue. She and her committee have some fun, new things planed. The band Woodrush (www.woodrushmusic.com) have volunteered their time to provide background music. The alternative-Americana sound of Woodrush is full of well-crafted original songs driven by vocal percussion and bursting with rich harmonies.

Woodrush will also be playing at the Galley Friday and Saturday nights.

The Salmon Barbecue will feature a variety of salads (pasta, rice, and coleslaw) made by local restaurants, and Lopez Village Market does a great job of providing most of the other products used in this event. The committee tries to purchase locally whenever possible. Besides the salads, the menu will consist of salmon cooked over an alder wood fire, with our special sauce, lemon slices, garlic bread, and cold watermelon slices. Coffee, decaf and tea are also offered. The coffee has been donated by Bargreen Coffee, so it is really good! You may purchase other drinks that are available at the coffee serving table.

We will once again offer pre-sale of tickets for the salmon barbecue. The cost is $15 for adults and $10 for children under the age of 12. The children can substitute hot dogs for the salmon if they wish. We absolutely guarantee a dedicated serving line for the pre-sale tickets. There will be signage at the salmon barbecue to direct you to this line. The tickets can be purchased at Village Apparel and at the Lopez Chamber office. You can also purchase fireworks shirts at the chamber office.

Help with the barbecue is always needed. If you would like to volunteer a few hours either on July 3, 4, or 5, please call Lia Noreen at 468-2646.

Thank you for your support!
