Nicaragua Night: 7 p.m., LCCA. A celebration of past and future activities in Managua. Come see slides and hear stories – there will be desserts to eat, Nicaraguan crafts to buy, and more. Lopez School students have visited the CDCA (Center for Development in Central America) every other year, working alongside some of the poorest people in Managua. This February, a contingent of Lopez Island residents sought a larger Lopez involvement to supplement the students efforts. Hear about plans for future student and adult activities, including an effort to provide much-needed alternative energy for the medical clinic in Nueva Vida, on the outskirts of Managua. Students and others will talk about past and future student trips and this new community-wide project. Help celebrate the Lopez community’s on-going involvement with the CDCA as funds are raised for next year’s student trip to Nicaragua, and for the alternative energy project at the Nueva Vida clinic. Call Suzanne Strom at 468-4325 for more information.
