Lopez Thrift Shop Annual Christmas Sale: 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Multipurpose Room at Lopez school. There will be many new items, antiques and collectibles, blue hat specials every 30 minutes and a silent auction which ends at 1:30 p.m. All proceeds stay on the island. Stress Free Holiday Shopping:Please join us at the historic Port Stanley Schoolhouse from 10 a.m. until 3 p.m. Twelve local artisans will host a day of relaxing, stress-free shopping for those of you who don’t like the crowds and hassle of holiday shopping. You’ll find a festive array of jewelry, wearable art, puzzles, beaded flatware, art prints, handspun fibers, and lots more. Light refreshments will be served. Lopez Sound Christmas Concert series: At Center Church,7:30 p.m. Also on Sat. Dec. 12 there will be a matinee at 3:00 p.m. with an evening show at 7:30 p.m. Friday, Dec. 18 and Saturday Dec. 19 at 7:30 p.m. Admission by donation. Thurs Dec. 17

The Whale Museum: “Black and White Night” fundraiser will be held at Friday Harbor House on San Juan Island. The dinner event will feature Chef Greg Atkinson, noted author and culinary instructor as well as former chef of the Friday Harbor House. Also featured is Jason Codding, the Chef behind the new Bluff Restaurant. The cost is $75 per person which includes the reception with cash bar, sit down dinner with wine from Northwest Totem Cellars, and a dessert celebration. Seating is very limited. Reservations can be made in The Whale Museum’s store or by calling (360) 378-4710 ext. 30. This year-end celebration dinner is a fundraiser for the Museum’s education and research programs.
