Workshop on memory loss and cognitive decline

On June 1, we invite you to the first offering in our “Living Well On Lopez” series, which will be be “A Boots on the Ground, Practical Approach for Everyday Care for the Lopezian with Memory Loss” led by Meg Constable. This will include a demonstration, activities, and helpful practical information. This presentation was given at our volunteer training to an excellent reception. Meg has been providing care to residents of Lopez and Shaw for the past 30 years and has been a volunteer with the Fire Dept. and an EMT.

Levanne Hendrix, MSN, ARNP, PhD will speak briefly on the connection between untreated Hearing Loss and Dementia.

Following this session, Llewellyne Arden will give a practice session on “How to Keep Your Memory Sharp! Movement for Cognitive Restructure”. Llewellyne is a long time resident of Lopez, and is a Certified Yoga Therapist. Yoga Therapy is a specific school of yoga developed to help manage, reduce, and transform discomforts of the body, breath and mind. She is currently engaged in teaching yoga to help clients establish or re-establish neural pathways for body function. Llewellyne is a nationally known teacher of Therapeutic Yoga. Participants will also be given the opportunity to provide feedback and interest in future programs.
