2009 Winter “Food” Film Series

Sunday, Janury 11th & February 8th

Lopez Locavores has secured the screening rights to two independently produced documentaries that provide a strong and relevant voice about sustainability issues close to our home. You won’t find these movies on Netflix. These films present the farmers and let them talk about what they love to do, providing faces and stories behind where our food comes from. The first film, GOOD FOOD, takes you to visit local producers, farmers markets, distributors, stores and restaurants in the Pacific NW. It features familiar farm names such as Bluebird Grain Farm and Skagit River Ranch.  The second is GARDENS OF DESTINY. In this film you will meet Dan Jason of Salt Spring Seeds. The film explores Dan’s garden and seed world and investigates what other experts from the agriculture milieu think about Dan’s observations. View clips at: http://www.goodfoodthemovie.org/, http://www.saltspringseeds.com/catalog/destiny_clip.htm Both films are 75 minutes. Thanks to Blossom Grocery for supplying refreshments. (See ad on front page for details).
