Blood Drive on Lopez

The Puget Sound Blood Center, in association with the Lopez Lions Club, will be holding a blood drive on Lopez Island on Tuesday, June 2 from Noon to 6:00 p.m. at the Community Church in the village.

The average Lopez Island blood drive produces 45 units of blood. This donation is critical to maintaining a stable blood supply for medical emergencies and to support patients battling life-threatening illnesses like cancer.

According to a news release from the Puget Sound Blood Center, “Lopez Island provided over 7% of the blood needed in hospitals throughout Western Washington on the day following your blood drive.”

“The following are some of the many patients who received blood from Pugent sound Blood Center in the last few days: a nine year old patient needing a heart transplant, a 31 year old patient run over by a tractor, a 36 year old patient involved in a motorcycle collision, a 35 year old patient in open heart surgery and a 47 year old patient with a kidney laceration.”

Puget Sound Blood Center and Lopez Lions ask you to “Share your good health.” Please donate blood June 2.
