Bring the new year in with fine food and music

If enjoying the holidays has not exhausted your urge to party, then there is plenty of opportunity for more celebrations this New Year’s Eve.

If enjoying the holidays has not exhausted your urge to party, then there is plenty of opportunity for more celebrations this New Year’s Eve.

Local restaurants and Lopez Islander Resort are offering special menus and events designed to help residents bring in 2011 with style.

Jeff Nichols at the Galley is planning a special, festive meal and a host of entertainment. “We have all kinds of special stuff,” he said.

“We will have a menu of special dinners exclusive to New Year’s Eve, as well as our regular offerings.” The special menu has highlights including prime rib, lamb pizzakiola (Italian style shank) and mandarin duck. “We will also have crab and shrimp stuffed salmon.”

The Galley will also be offering free appetizers, special desserts, party favors and a complimentary champagne toast at midnight.

This will be the 10th year the Galley has hosted a New Year’s Eve party, and to provide extra entertainment the Magmatics (formally the Hip Waiters) will play, beginning their set at approximately 9:30 p.m. “New Year’s is a big night,” said Nichols.

If sampling fine foods is an important part of your New’s Year Eve, then the Bay Cafe is offering other options for festive dining. Darrin Holscher said there will be a special menu for the night.

The restaurant will revisit some of the most popular international-themed meals that were created last fall and spring to honor and explore international cuisine. For those that missed those themed dinners, New Year’s Eve is another oppertunity to catch the best.

For a chance to enjoy more music and show off your singing talent, Lopez Islander Resort will host a New Year’s Eve Party. The event will be held in the Tiki Room and will feature a DJ and Karaoke. There will also be complimentary party favors and champagne.

The resort’s New Year’s Eve menu will feature a prime rib dinner or sauteed ocean prawns and dessert. Dinner will be served until 10 p.m. and reservations are required.
