Free Discover Pass day

A Discover Pass is not required in celebration of Smokey Bear’s Birthday, Aug. 9 from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. Go for a hike, enjoy a fire in our beach fire pits or bring your binos for some birdwatching at Spencer Spit!

Remember that a Discover Pass is never required if you hike or bike in, and please Leave No Trace. Passes are available for free to check out at the Lopez Island Library on a non-free day, and yearly passes are available for purchase for $45 at IMC and Spencer Spit.

You will not need a Discover Pass when visiting state parks, Washington Department of Natural Resources or Washington Department of Fish and Wildlife lands on Discover Pass free days. Please note that free days apply only to day use (not overnight stays or rented facilities).
