What started as a casual idea, Pub Night at the Golf Club has grown into one of the most anticipated recurring gatherings on Lopez Island.

“Our Pub Night was started as a way to encourage people to come out to have a bit of laid-back fun and leisurely golf while potentially meeting new friends,” said Jody Southard with the event.

Held every other Thursday starting at 2 p.m., the event features half-price golf at Lopez Golf Club located at 589 Airport Road, followed by games like Ping-Pong, darts and corn hole, plus a social dinner atmosphere from 4:30-6:30 p.m.

One of the biggest draws? The food and the laid-back schedule that lets people enjoy the afternoon at their own pace.

“Our Mariners hot dogs, served with chips and all the toppings, are always a hit,” Southard added. “Often people will come out to play golf first, then stay for dinner and a few rounds of corn hole.”

Southard said that the response from the community has been steadily growing.

“Some weeks are busier than others, but those who attend always have a great time,” said Southard. “As it’s growing in popularity, we intend to offer this indefinitely.”
