Marilyn Naumann, 67, of Eastsound has been charged with assault in the third degree for assaulting a law enforcement officer.
In court documents filed on May 24, a San Juan County Sheriff’s Deputy said that Naumann allegedly attacked him while he responded to a burn investigation on May 23.
According to court documents, the deputy said that he responded to a residence on Otters Lane at approximately 10:17 p.m. When the deputy approached a male resident of the house regarding an unlawful burn, the male was “aggressive, hostile and uncooperative.”
When the deputy attempted to arrest the male, he heard Naumann say “get off of him.” Naumann then allegedly attempted to pull the deputy away from the male and then hit the deputy twice with her fist or the heel of her hand.
According to the deputy, Naumann’s actions allegedly interfered in the “execution of a lawful process through means of physical force,” resulting in the assault charge.
Naumann’s arraignment is set for 9 a.m. on Friday, June 1.
