The Rotary Club of San Juan Island presented Lopez 3rd-graders with dictionaries designed especially for their grade level on Monday, Nov. 20.

Language arts teacher Brian Goff loves using the dictionary for facts about Washington state, definition races, math-related information and, of course, the “longest word in the dictionary.

Rotary encourages students to be curious about our language, at the same time, supports the love of reading. Rotary International is an organization, united worldwide, providing humanitarian service and helping build goodwill and peace in the world. Rotary has 32,000 clubs in 166 countries. Eradication of Polio is a major global objective for Rotary.

Lopez students thank Rotary for the generous donation and the early morning presentation of dictionaries. The students will be dictionary experts in no time.
