Thanks for the volunteer landscape work at Lopez School

On behalf of the Lopez island School District, I would like to publicly thank the many individuals, most of whom have asked to remain anonymous, for the volunteer work they donated to the Lopez Schools over the summer to help keep our grounds and gardens looking presentable and inviting.

On behalf of the Lopez island School District, I would like to publicly thank the many individuals, most of whom have asked to remain anonymous, for the volunteer work they donated to the Lopez Schools over the summer to help keep our grounds and gardens looking presentable and inviting.

With recent budget reductions that had to be enacted to reach the required balanced budget, the availability of funds to pay for summer grounds work has been limited to non-existent. The kind and generous offer of a number of community volunteers to help with weeding, edging, planting, etc, was such a welcome and appreciated act of community service that the District feels compelled to acknowledge their efforts with a hearty and well-deserved THANKS!

The community pride in our Lopez Schools is not something we school folk take lightly and we feel so blessed when examples of that pride are manifested in such gestures as the many hours of volunteer grounds keeping for which we have been the appreciative recipients. Thanks, Lopez community, and here we go for another great year!
