SAFE San Juans is pleased to recognize those standing with us to turn the tide of domestic violence — an act rooted in the dynamics of power and control one person wields over another. Changing the attitudes and beliefs influencing how people see and relate to each other is the key to ending the violence. This change needs to start early; therefore, SAFE is committed to teaching healthy-relationship skills to the children and youth in our county, grades K-12.

The generosity of Orcas Islanders in supporting SAFE through the Orcas Island Community Foundation made it possible for SAFE to commit to doing this prevention-related educational work in the Orcas Island School District this year. Then, in April 2019, the Stand Up Men embarked on a mission to raise $45,000 to help fund SAFE’s prevention-education work in the rest of the county; so far over $20,000 has been given.
