Russell (Russ) F. BornemanJuly 21,1950-April 16, 2019

Our support system, our health champion, our Dr. Russ, our dad, our grandpa and our friend, Russell Frank Borneman passed on April 16, 2019, at the age of 68 from cancer.

He was born July 21, 1950, in Seattle to Jeanette C. Knutzen and Robert W. Borneman. Russ graduated from Ingraham High School in 1968 and then attended University of Washington for both an undergraduate degree in Zoophysiology and his Doctorate in dental surgery. While at UW he was active in the Tau Kappa Epsilon fraternity. In 1976, he married his first wife Sally and soon opened his first dental practice on Lopez Island. A few years later he opened a practice in the Burton Building of Anacortes. In 1988 he married his second wife, Victoria. As his career blossomed, his practice in Anacortes became full-time, and he specialized in mercury-free dentistry since 1982. Dr. Russ attracted patients from around the world who would schedule time to have safe mercury removal, fluoride-free care and whole-body healing with a kind and personal touch. Dr. Russ grew into his specialized role and became certified in naturopathy and holistic techniques which fit naturally into his vision for the Sound Health Center, the building of health care professionals, which Dr. Russ established in his final years as a dentist. Russ’ hobbies were bicycling, wine making and traveling anywhere to be in the sun. Russ was active in the preservation of the Anacortes Community Forest Lands as he became a part of Friends of the Forest.

Russ was preceded in death by his parents, brother Richard and wife Victoria. He is survived by his children: Sucia (Jesse Dhillon), Robyn Borneman, Libby (Nathan Digweed), Claire Borneman, Richie Bornemanand Sara (Sara Paponjak); grandchildren: James and Mia Dhillon; Josh, Alyssa and Lauren Digweed; and Kinsley Borneman.

A Celebration of Life was held on May 18, 2019, in Anacortes.
