The San Juan County Sheriff’s Office responded to the following.

May 15

• A deputy issued a driver in Friday Harbor a citation for failing to wear a seat belt.

• A deputy in Friday Harbor issued a driver citations for failing to stop at a stop sign and for negligent driving in the second degree and a warning for defective equipment.

• A Lopez deputy took a report of a minor collision that occurred aboard a Washington State Ferry while unloading at the Lopez Ferry Terminal. Nobody was hurt, and both cars were driven from the scene. No citations were issued.

• A deputy in Friday Harbor issued a driver a citation for failing to stop at a stop sign and a warning for not having proof of liability insurance.

• Deputies responded to a report of a possible overdose in Eastsound. It was found that a female had taken lots of Benadryl and Tylenol. Emergency Medical Services transported her to a hospital off island.

May 16

• A deputy in Friday Harbor arrested a driver for driving with a suspended license in the third degree. The driver was released with citations for failing to wear a seat belt and for not having proof of insurance.

• Deputies responded to a report of vandalism-in-progress at the front entrance to the sheriff’s office on San Juan. Without being questioned, the suspect openly admitted to the vandalism and was promptly arrested. Video surveillance captured the incident.

• An Orcas deputy responded to a call about a theft. There are no suspects at this time.

• A deputy on San Juan stopped the driver of a vehicle for expired registration. The driver was issued a citation for having expired registration over two months and for not having insurance.

• An Orcas deputy stopped a vehicle for a lane travel violation in Eastsound and learned the driver had a suspended driver’s license. The driver was arrested and released.

May 17

• A deputy on Orcas responded to a report of abandoned property. The property was collected, went unclaimed and was disposed of.

• A deputy on Orcas responded to a citizen dispute.

• A deputy on San Juan stopped a driver for operating a vehicle with a suspended license. The driver was arrested for driving with a suspended license in the third degree and was issued a citation for not having insurance.

• A deputy stopped a vehicle on San Juan for speeding and issued the driver a citation.

May 18

• A deputy in Friday Harbor took a report of a disorderly subject at a local bar.

• A deputy responded to a report of an overdose in Eastsound. The victim was transported via air ambulance to a hospital, and a report was written documenting the incident.

• A deputy on Orcas responded to a report of a missing person. The deputy checked the location where the person was reported to be but was unable to locate him.

• After receiving a report of vandalism on Orcas, a deputy contacted the reporting party and learned that the incident had previously been reported and investigated by another deputy.

• An investigation was started after deputies responded to a report of burglary on Orcas.

• A deputy stopped a motorist near Lopez Village after he saw him speeding. The driver was issued a ticket for speeding, for having an expired vehicle registration and for not having current vehicle insurance.

• Lopez deputies, firefighters and Emergency Medical Technicians launched a search and rescue at dusk for a missing elderly person with health issues. The person was found, medically evaluated and taken home to family.

• A Lopez deputy located an off-island person after family members called with concerns for his safety and well-being. The person was not in any danger, and the family was notified.

May 19

• A Lopez deputy responded to a call regarding a missing person who was found and reunited with family members.

• On two separate occasions, a driver on Lopez was stopped by deputies and issued a citation for not wearing a seat belt.

• A deputy was dispatched to the Friday Harbor area about an unwanted person. The deputy arrived and made contact with the involved persons.

• A deputy on San Juan stopped the driver of a vehicle for speeding. The driver was issued a citation for traveling 42 mph in a 25 mph zone.

May 20

• A deputy responded to an accident-with-injury near Eastsound. The injured passenger was flown off island, and the driver was arrested for driving under the influence and vehicular assault.

• A deputy in Friday Harbor was dispatched to a complaint about trespassing. A letter was signed and will be served to the trespasser when contact is made.

• A deputy in Friday Harbor issued a citation to a driver for failing to wear a seat belt and a warning about an obstructed license plate.

• A driver in Friday Harbor received citations for speeding and for not having liability insurance.

• A deputy responded to a case of malicious mischief on San Juan Island, contacted the people involved and made a report.

• A Lopez deputy warned a motorist for not stopping at a stop sign.

May 21

• A deputy in Friday Harbor issued a driver a citation for failing to stop at a stop sign and for not having proof of liability insurance. The driver also received a warning for failing to change their address on their Washington state driver’s license.

• A deputy in Friday Harbor responded to a report of a suspicious circumstance. A trespass letter will be signed and served when contact is made.

• Deputies responded to a report of damage to a Lopez business.

• Deputies in Friday Harbor issued a citation to a driver for using a cell phone while driving.

• A deputy was dispatched to a report of trespassing in Friday Harbor. The suspect was issued a citation and released with a promise to appear in court.
