‘Suspicious’ luggage found on San Juan Island

Deputies responded to a report of a suspicious piece of luggage in a gravel parking lot in the 4400 block of Pear Point Road on San Juan Island on Oct. 25 around 8 a.m.

Deputies responded to a report of a suspicious piece of luggage in a gravel parking lot in the 4400 block of Pear Point Road on San Juan Island on Oct. 25 around 8 a.m.

The Washington State Patrol Explosive Ordnance Disposal team responded and examined the item by x-ray.  The luggage was then opened and determined to be safe.  According to Sheriff Rob Nou, no further investigation is required.
