WSU Beach Watchers is a watershed-to-marine stewardship education program offered by WSU Extension San Juan County.
It is modeled after the highly successful WSU Master Gardener Volunteer Program.
Beach Watcher volunteers receive 100 hours of training from Washington State University in the biological, cultural and physical aspects of marine stewardship. In return, trained Beach Watchers provide 100 hours of volunteer service back to the community through education, research and stewardship.
Classes begin on March 25 and end May 13. There will be 15 classes total, on Tuesdays and Thursdays. Classes will be held on Lopez, Orcas and San Juan with one class on
Yellow Island and, possibly, one on Shaw.
