March 17

• A Lopez deputy was dispatched for a possible theft complaint. It was determined that nothing belonging to the reporting party was taken, and house access issues were found to be civil.

• A Friday Harbor deputy collected an abandoned suitcase from the area of Malcolm Street and Argyle Avenue.

• A Friday Harbor driver was warned for failing to stop at a stop sign.

• An Orcas resident received a fake phone call from someone claiming to be from the U.S. Treasury Department.

• Deputies responded to Peace Island Hospital in Friday Harbor to assist with a mental patient.

• Lopez deputies responded to a Hummel Lake Road residence for a possible domestic violence incident. It was determined that there was an active party and that the reported yelling was most likely from a highly intoxicated resident. There was no evidence of a crime, and deputies departed.

• Lopez deputies were dispatched for a report of a truck in the ditch and a subject seen stumbling along the roadway. The driver was not located that evening.

• A Lopez deputy responded to a Hummel Lake Road residence for a suspicious circumstance complaint involving a 911 hang up. The responding deputy contacted residents and determined that the 911 call was made accidentally.

March 19

• A deputy was dispatched to a suspicious circumstance in Friday Harbor. The incident happened earlier in the morning with an unknown suspect. No further information at this time.

• A Friday Harbor driver was issued an infraction for speeding.

• An infraction was issued for a San Juan Island driver going 56 miles per hour in a 35 MPH zone.

• A deputy was dispatched to a theft in Friday Harbor. According to the reporting party, two items were taken. There are no suspects at this time.

• A deputy initiated a traffic stop in Friday Harbor for a driver not wearing a seat belt. The driver received an infraction for failing to wear a safety belt, not having a valid driver’s license, having expired registration over two months and operating a motor vehicle without insurance.

• Lopez Island deputies observed suspicious activity at a derelict building. Upon further investigation, three local kids were contacted and warned for trespassing.

March 20

• A deputy initiated a traffic stop in Friday Harbor. The driver was issued infractions for failure to stop at stop sign and no proof of insurance.

• A deputy was dispatched to a found property call in Friday Harbor. The items were located and booked into the evidence room.

• A Lopez Island deputy was dispatched on a report of a woman screaming near Woodmen Hall on Fisherman Bay Rd. After the thorough check of the area, nobody in distress was found. Checking back with the reporting party, the screaming woman may have been inside a passing car.

• A deputy observed a possible violation of a domestic violence protection order at a Lopez Island business. Upon further investigation, the circumstances did not violate the provisions of the court order.

• A deputy was dispatched to a trespassing call on San Juan Island. The reporting deputy contacted the involved party. The incident was unfounded.

• Deputies observed a driver in the Eastsound area speeding. When deputies contacted the driver and completed their investigation, it was determined the driver was impaired. The driver was arrested and eventually released with a future court date.

March 21

• A deputy in Friday Harbor received a report of a burglary. Nothing was taken from the business and there are no suspects.

• Lopez deputies investigated a 911 hang-up call. The source of the cellphone call was not determined, but nearby residences were checked to ensure there was nobody trying to access emergency services.

March 22

• A deputy in Friday Harbor received a report of a fraud. There are currently no suspects.

• An Eastsound resident reported a credit card fraud case.

• Deputies responded to a motor vehicle accident that occurred in the Eastsound area. The driver was found to be under the influence of alcohol. The driver resisted efforts to be arrested. He was taken into custody after a struggle and was booked into the county jail.
