San Juan County election results

Lopez Solid Waste Disposal District Proposition No. 1, an excess levy for the district, was approved with 81.6 percent (1,019 votes) voters for the levy and 18.4 percent (246 votes) against.

This proposition would authorize the district to generate $105,000 by a levy of excess taxes upon all taxable property within the district in an amount estimated to be $0.10131 per $1,000 assessed home value for 2018 to fund operations and capital improvements of the district.

School Board

John Helding was elected Lopez Island School District no. 144 School Board Director 1, a four-year term; he ran unopposed.

Chris Greacen was elected Lopez Island School District no. 144 School Board Director 2, a four-year term. He ran against Don Burt, Jr. Greacen received 974 votes, 73.62 percent, and Burt received 349 votes, 26.38 percent.

Fire District

Bruce Johnson was elected San Juan Co. Protection District no. 4 Fire Commissioner 3, a six-year term; he ran unopposed.

Port of Lopez

Paul S. Henriksen was elected Port of Lopez Port Commissioner 3, a four-year term. Henriksen ran against Larry Bailey. Henriksen received 58.96 percent (770 votes), and Bailey received 41.04 percent (536 votes).

Public Hospital District

James Orcutt was elected San Juan Co. Public Hospital District no. 2 Commissioner 4, a four-year term; he ran unopposed.

Water & Sewer

San Olson was elected MacKaye Harbor Water District Commissioner 2, a six-year term; he ran unopposed.

Tom McDaniel was elected Fisherman Bay Sewer District Sewer Commissioner 2, a six-year term; he ran unopposed.

As of 5 p.m. on Nov. 8, 6,799 ballots have been counted for elections county-wide. The next ballot count is scheduled for 4:30 p.m. on Nov. 11. Voter turnout was 52.81 percent of the 12,874 registered voters. For full election results visit the county elections page here.
