Springtime brings the re-opening of the poetry pole at 11 Shoreland Drive, the road to Humphrey Head at the intersection with Port Stanley Road. Lopez resident Mary Bywater Cross installed a poetry pole for your reading and sharing. Each week Cross will post a different poem for you to enjoy. Check it out as you walk or ride by.

Anyone is welcome to submit a favorite poem to be shared on the pole. Place them in Cross’ mailbox, opposite the pole. Poems may be favorites from childhood, memorized ones from high school and college days, or newly discovered ones with special meanings. They don’t have to be original but islanders’ creativity would be fun to share.

Please include the poet’s name and dates of his/her life; reason why it was selected; and your name and contact information. Poems will be posted between now and the end of September.
