Each day young Lopez children are learning, playing and exploring on Lopez Children’s Center (LCC) grounds in the Cooperative Preschool and the Play And Learn (PAL) Programs. One day they are visiting local farms to see baby goats and lambs, and another they are learning about boats at Islands Marine Center. Children are noticing that masses of eggs are changing into tadpoles and are creating small rivers and bridges in the playground sandbox. Early childhood teachers provide a nurturing environment, honoring the social, emotional, cognitive and physical development of each young child’s presence each day at the Children’s Center.

So what is the partnership for children? We’re excited to announce that LCC and Blossom Organic Grocery are partnering to provide a donation program for those who wish to support the Children’s Center while you shop at Blossom.

This donation program is a pilot project utilizing Blossom’s recent technology that was added into the store a few months ago. Blossom is not actually donating money to the Children’s Center; rather they are making available an easy way to contribute to LCC by being the conduit for generosity. Together LCC and Blossom are contributing to the health and well being of our children, families and community through this program.

A simple system has been created that adds no extra time while you are grocery shopping. When you are at Blossom all you need to REMEMBER (along with your canvas shopping bag) is that you also wish to give support to the Children’s Center. At the checkout stand just let the cashier know that you would like to donate an extra amount of money to the Children’s Center. The friendly cashiers at Blossom will ring up the amount quickly and easily; you’ll pay the donation amount along with your grocery bill. It’s that simple! At the time of cashing out at Blossom you will also be contributing to young Lopez children’s exploration, learning and development.

Lopez Children Center’s Play And Learn (PAL) Program is open Mondays-Fridays, 8:30 a.m. to 5:15 p.m. year-round. The Cooperative Preschool operates Tuesdays-Thursdays, 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. on the school year cycle.
