Odlin South had a fun and successful evening two weeks ago at the ‘Who Dunnit’ benefit art sale. The evening started with patrons sipping wine as they admired the art work and listened to beautiful piano music played by Marge Stensrud. As the night unfolded, sweet and savory hors d’oeuvres were served by four elegantly clad high school students. Madrona Murphy presented a power point with photos and maps of the area while Heather Arps gave a brief history of the land planned to be reclaimed, and an update on the progress made so far. Bob Myhr was on hand to explain that the state legislature is considering action on behalf of leasing this land and he congratulated the hard work of all involved thus far. As the art sales picked up speed, Hawk Arps serenaded the crowd on his vibraphone and got us all in the groove to support this effort.
Special thanks to the artists, the patrons, the musicians, Bob Myhr, Madrona Murphy, the Karps, Raiti Wearness, Linda Hudson, the excellent set up and break down crews, the cooks and the kids for making this fun evening a success. We raised $2900. This is a good start to the major undertaking of purchasing this land from the DNR. It is an effort that needs all of us to pitch in with physical as well as financial support so that years down the road we can look back and say we did it. We preserved that land because it was important. Through our efforts, we can add a significant amount of acreage to Odlin Park so that generations to come can enjoy the beauty that drew each of us to Lopez.
Look for us at the Lopez Farmer’s Market on Saturday’s from 10 a.m. until 2 p.m. or contact Heather Arps at 468-3163 or at harps4@centurytel.net.
