Obituary – Nancy Ellen Jaeger

Nancy Ellen (Cronin) Jaeger of Lopez Island passed away peacefully at the home of her son Scott and daughter-in-law Leona Jaeger on February 21, 2008 in Sun Lakes AZ.

Nancy was born in Chico, CA on September 30, 1922 to Howard and Juanita Cronin. She grew up in Los Angeles, CA where she attended the Los Angeles Catholic Girls School. She married Robert Jaeger on July 3, 1943. She is survived by her sweetheart and beloved husband of 64 years, Robert Jaeger, son Greg Jaeger (Carolyne) of Tucson, AZ, son Scott Jaeger (Leona) of Sun Lakes, AZ, eight grandchildren, 11 great grandchildren, sister Barbara Underwood of Pasadena, CA, brother Hubert Cronin of Williamsbill, NY, numerous nieces and nephews, and many dear friends on Lopez, all of whom she dearly loved.

Bob and Nancy lived in California until 1977 when they moved to Lopez Island and built their home on Hunter Bay. Nancy will always be remembered for her delicious crab dip, her wonderful homemade bread, ever-present cookies, unforgettable almond roca, her beautiful knitting and most especially, her love of people and entertaining. She never knew a stranger; her lovely smile and friendly spirit greeted everyone she met.

She will be dearly missed and lovingly remembered by family and friends.

A memorial service will be held at St. Pius X, Tucson, AZ on March 22, followed by a memorial service on Lopez Island, WA in May.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Catherine Washburn Memorial Association, Lopez Island Medical Clinic or the Lopez Union Cemetery Association.
