After daily practice sessions, and regular matches against regional schools, Lopez boys’ and girls’ golfers headed to the Tri/Quad District pressure cooker championships at the Gallery Golf Course in Oak Harbor on May 19. Both teams came home victorious, winning their respective titles.

Siri Dye earned sixth place for the girls, with Emalie Hobi winning seventh, Anah-Kate Drahn tenth and Nora Zapalac eleventh; Naomi Vliet and Kate Combs also posted scores that were low enough to contribute to earning the Quad-Districts championship.

For the boys, Erik Paton took second place, Tobin Arden third and Sterling Carfrae sixth. Although the three boys were the only ones representing Lopez, their scores were low enough to take the Tri-Districts championship.

Coach Richard Tetu was generous in his praise of the team’s efforts, in no small part made possible by support from The Lopez Island Golf Club, the Booster Club and Lopez Island School District.
