This year Lopez Grange’s fourth annual quilt show and barn quilt raffle is being held on Saturday, July 17 as part of a FUN-raiser that includes an outdoor movie at dusk. Due to COVID, last year’s show, traditionally held during the fall during harvest time, was canceled.
According to Grange member and Enchanted Quilter Jodie Snapp, “The quilters have been busy during the pandemic and are anxious to show off their work. This is a great way to reopen and support our Grange hall.”
The quilt show will run from 12-4 p.m. and will be filled with gorgeous handmade quilts made by The Enchanted Quilters. Also on display and up for raffle will be two barn quilts. Barn quilts are painted on 4’ X 4’ exterior plywood and are composed of a colorful quilt square and are made to hang on the exterior of a barn, house, shop or other building. “Our motto is, if you don’t have a barn, we’ll find one for you,” said Snapp. Tickets are 3 for $10, and available the day of the quilt show or online at www.lopezislandgrange.org. Admission to the quilt show is free.
At dusk, starting between 8:30-9 p.m., an outdoor movie will be shown on the south wall of the Grange. Music or cartoons will precede National Lampoon’s Vacation with Chevy Chase, the feature film. Bring a chair, blanket, picnic, and dress warmly and be prepared to laugh heartily. Admission is free with donations accepted and will be added to the Grange’s building fund. Popcorn will be served.
