The Lopez Children’s Center will be celebrating its 5th year of providing early childhood education and care to the children of Lopez Island.

The kick-off for this celebration will be this Sunday, Aug. 10, 3 to 5 p.m. at Lopez Center when the community will have an opportunity to support this essential work by attending the 9th annual auction. Known for the past eight years as the Apron Auction, the board looked at its kitchens and heard from community members that our apron collections were now complete and it was time to move on. This year artist-designed extra sturdy Market Bags will be featured along with the usual wonderful array of donated items. This year’s theme is “5.”

If you would like to donate an item please bring it by the Children’s Center on Saturday, August 9 between 10 a.m. and 1 p.m. Then be sure to come to the Lopez Center on Sunday, August 10 for the 9th Annual Children’s Center Auction, a free event that is always entertaining and a good time for all. And the best part is knowing that your support helps out the youngest members of our island community.
