The Lopez Island Conservation Corps presents another opportunity to participate in the maintenance of our island’s trails on Sunday, Nov. 20, 12:30-4:30 p.m. The LICC organizes monthly community volunteer events, and this month the work party will be at the Lopez Island Fitness and Ecology Trail. The L.I.F.E. trail is a unique one-mile loop through willow wetlands at the south end of the Lopez Island School. There are nine fitness stations, gravel walking paths, abundant wildlife and rich native vegetation. Projects will include the continuing revegetation efforts to enhance ecology of the trail with native vegetation and mulch and assisting with the Island Marble butterfly habitat zone with additional fencing and vegetation control.
