The upcoming general meeting of the League of Women Voters of the San Juans will be held on Wednesday, Feb. 12, in the Garden Room at Key Bank (lower level) on San Juan Island from noon to 2 p.m.

Our speaker will be Dr. Frank James, Health Officer with the County Department of Health and Community Services. James will speak to us about the public health threats he sees in our county.

Our county has one of the lowest rates of immunization in the state. In view of recent outbreaks of chicken pox and whooping cough in the islands, is this a statistic we should be concerned about? This and other health matters will be discussed at this important meeting. The public is welcome to join our members.
