Last year’s “Splash” event was so successful that the Friends of Lopez Island Pool (FLIP) is doing it again, Saturday, June 27 at 7 p.m. at

the Community Center.

At last year’s event, John Sorensen, a local businessman, generously donated land for the pool at a perfect location near the school. FLIP enthusiastically moved forward and this year wants to make new friends and share building plans and ideas for the site.

Architects and aquatic design specialists from Heery International and the Aquatic Design Group will be unveiling preliminary drawings of the aquatic facility, designed to fit the Lopezian landscape and to include both lap and therapeutic pools. They are eager to meet thecommunity, gather input on design ideas, and address questions andconcerns.

“Splash” is not a fundraiser but rather a informal opportunity to learn more about the future pool and bring everyone up to date on the current status of a project that will benefit all Lopez Islanders.

FLIP will provide tea, coffee, lemonade, homemade cookies, and special activities for children.

Join FLIP on Saturday, June 27 at 7 p.m. at the Community Center! For more information or to help, please visit www.lopezislandpool.org or call Lori Taylor at 468-3998 or Linda Barton at 468-4655. Lopez will swim!
