This week the writers whose books were edited by Dorothy Conway had a party for her at the Islander. She never charged for her editing services, and her talents were given freely and graciously to the Lopez writers that worked with her. A retired editor of books at the Encyclopedia Britannica, Dorothy is an island treasure few people know about, and who shared her expertise with aspiring authors through the years. Her husband Douglas Conway attended as well. Retired now, Douglas was an English Professor at Everett Community College for 30 years.
