The San Juan County Sheriff’s Office responded to the following calls.

March 11

• An Orcas deputy was informed of a sick deer near the Eastsound area. The deer was dispatched and public works was contacted.

• An Orcas deputy received a report of a theft on Lodge Lane. There are no suspects at this time.

• An Orcas deputy was dispatched to a trespassing callback near the golf course.

• A deputy on San Juan responded to a report of a vehicle collision into a building.

• A San Juan deputy issued citations to a driver for failing to stop at stop sign and operating a vehicle without insurance.

• A deputy stopped a car for speeding near Eastsound. The driver was issued a warning for speeding and citations for driving without a valid driver’s license with ID and not having insurance.

• A deputy on San Juan stopped a vehicle for having expired registration. The driver was arrested for failing to transfer a title within 45 days and issued citations for having expired registration and not having insurance and a driver’s license on them and no registration in the vehicle.

March 12

• Orcas deputies were dispatched with Orcas Fire to a multiple vehicle accident in the Eastsound area. One of the drivers was arrested for driving under the influence.

• A deputy on Orcas Island stopped a vehicle for speeding in Eastsound. The driver was issued a citation for the speeding violation.

• An Orcas Island deputy was dispatched to a dog at large call. The deputy was not able to locate the dogs.

• A deputy responded to a citizen dispute call on San Juan Island. The deputy spoke with those involved.

• A Lopez deputy completed a report on a possible case of trespassing.

• A deputy on Orcas stopped a vehicle for speeding in Eastsound. The driver was issued a citation for the speeding violation.

• A Lopez deputy was contacted regarding suspicious circumstances.

• Deputies on San Juan were dispatched to a domestic violence incident. The investigation found it was a verbal argument and no crimes were committed.

March 13

• Orcas deputies were dispatched to a citizen assist.

• A deputy on San Juan stopped a vehicle for traveling over the lane, speeding and having expired registration. The driver was issued a citation for not having insurance.

• San Juan Island deputies were dispatched to a domestic dispute involving a juvenile.

• An Orcas deputy was dispatched to a citizen assist call near Eastsound. Everything turned out to be fine.

March 14

• A deputy responded to an unoccupied Lopez Island residence to investigate a residential alarm. There was no evidence of a crime and it was determined that the alarm was activated due to inclement weather.

• A San Juan deputy stopped a vehicle for traveling 54 miles per hour in a posted 35 miles per hour speed zone. The driver was arrested for driving while suspended license in the third degree and issued a citation for speeding.

• A deputy on Orcas stopped a vehicle in Eastsound for a speeding violation. The violator was issued a citation.

• A deputy on San Juan responded to a dog at large. The subject responsible for the dogs was contacted and advised if it happens again they will be issued a citation.

• A deputy on San Juan took a report of suspicious activity on a boat.

• A Lopez deputy stopped a motorist on Fisherman Bay Road after he saw him driving with only one working headlamp after dark. The deputy gave the driver a ticket for the equipment violation.

March 15

• A deputy on Orcas stopped a vehicle for a speeding violation in Eastsound. The violator was issued citations for speeding and not having insurance.

• A deputy on Orcas stopped a vehicle for speeding in Eastsound. The driver was issued a citation.

• A deputy on Orcas received a complaint for violating a protection order.

• A deputy on San Juan stopped a vehicle for having a defective brake light and not using a turn signal. The driver was issued a citation.

• An Orcas deputy was dispatched to an agency assist in the Olga area.

March 16

• A Lopez deputy was contacted regarding a civil issue around the sale of a boat. Both parties were contacted and referrals for a possible solution were provided.

• San Juan deputies responded to a death investigation call involving a male who passed away. The victim was transported from the scene by Evans Funeral Home and an investigation is ongoing.

• Lopez EMS and a deputy assisted a resident who was having health issues.

• A Lopez man was arrested for domestic violence-related vandalism and harassment.

• A San Juan deputy arrested a driver for driving under the influence of alcohol and/or drugs. They were released with a citation and promise to appear in court.

• Orcas deputies were dispatched to a shooting. The reporting party advised there were multiple victims and the suspect was being detained. Upon arrival, the gunman was taken into custody and the victims transported to medical facilities to seek treatment.

March 17

• A deputy responded to a welfare check in Friday Harbor. The deputy spoke with the person involved and found that he was doing well.

• A Lopez deputy was sent to investigate a 911 hang-up call. No problem was found at the location and the source of the call could not be determined.

• A Frost Island property owner reported vandalism to his water catchment system.

• San Juan deputies responded to a report of a citizen dispute in Friday Harbor. The report was forwarded to the prosecutor’s office for charging.

• A Lopez Island business owner issued a trespass warning letter to a man after he wrote a number of bad checks to the business. The man is unwelcome on the property until the matter of the checks is resolved.

• San Juan deputies were dispatched to report of a domestic dispute. The suspect was arrested for assault in the fourth degree.
