The San Juan County Sheriff’s Office responded to the following calls.

March 20

• A deputy on San Juan received a report of a lost computer.

• On San Juan, a deputy received a report of a fraud. The victim reported that they were defrauded over the phone for $450 and their computer was accessed by unknown suspects. The victim is working with their bank. There are no leads on the identity of the suspect.

• A deputy on Orcas took a report of a lost or stolen dingy. The vessel was described as a wooden dingy with a mount for the mast of a sail. The dingy reportedly went missing around the new year.

• A deputy responded to a report of theft from a store in Friday Harbor. Deputies quickly identified and located the suspect who was taken into custody and booked into the San Juan County Jail for theft in the third degree.

• On Lopez, a deputy stopped the driver of a vehicle on Fisherman Bay Road for speeding. The driver, a visitor to the island, was issued a citation for going 46 MPH in a 25 MPH zone and a verbal warning for failing to produce insurance information.

March 21

• A deputy was contacted about an incident of malicious mischief in the Friday Harbor area. One person said they had had a verbal argument with someone, and later noticed their vehicle had a flat tire. The tire had damage to the sidewall.

• A deputy responded to a residence after an argument occurred where threats were made. It was determined that one person had made a threat toward another; however, the person making the threats is believed to have a condition affecting his mental capability. The subject was transported to a hospital for evaluation.

• San Juan deputies responded to a report of a juvenile problem. During the investigation, it was determined that the juvenile had assaulted and threatened another. The report was sent to the prosecutor’s office.

• A Lopez deputy observed a vehicle parked illegally on the roadway. The owner was contacted and told to find a more appropriate parking spot.

• Deputies responded to a third-party report of threats on Orcas. Further investigation revealed no evidence that a criminal threat was made.

March 22

• Lopez deputies were dispatched to a domestic disturbance. An investigation was conducted, and it was determined to be a verbal dispute.

• A deputy in Friday Harbor was dispatched to a single-vehicle accident. The deputy arrived and located a single vehicle off the roadway on its roof. The driver was contacted and received a citation.

• A Lopez deputy and Lopez Island Fire & EMS responded to a hazmat incident in the Village.

• A deputy on San Juan conducted a traffic stop and cited the driver for not having a valid operator’s license – with identification. The driver was also given a verbal warning for speeding.

March 23

• A Lopez deputy was dispatched to a citizen dispute on Decatur Island. The incident is currently under investigation.

• On Lopez, a deputy stopped the driver of a vehicle on Center Road and issued the driver a citation for speeding, 55 MPH in a posted 35 MPH zone.

• A San Juan deputy responded to a report of a noise complaint. Upon arrival, the deputy identified that the noise was coming from a residence known to have heavy drug use. Three juveniles were found to be smoking cannabis with the tenant. The deputy’s report was forwarded to multiple agencies.

March 24

• An investigation continues into a report that the Lopez school was burglarized by juveniles.

• After a deputy responded to a report of a bag found at a restaurant in Friday Harbor, attempts were made to contact the owner. Because the search was unsuccessful, the bag was submitted into evidence as found property.

March 25

• A deputy on San Juan responded with EMS and Fire to a reported overdose. The individual was seen by EMS and flown off the island for further medical care.

• On San Juan, a deputy responded to a report of a found firearm. The pistol had been left behind by a hotel guest after they checked out of their room. The deputy took custody of the firearm and booked it into evidence as found property.

• A deputy on Orcas responded to a theft complaint. An investigation commenced.
