Submitted by San Juan County.
The deadline is approaching to pay the second half of property and personal property taxes: Friday, Oct. 31. The San Juan County Treasurer’s Office is making it easier than ever to pay quickly, securely and on time! Remember, the Treasurer’s Office is closed on Fridays — but there are many ways to pay taxes early, online and in person before the deadline.
Questions?
First, check out the Treasurer’s Office website for answers to frequently asked questions. Staff are busily processing payments and will be happy to return your call if you leave a detailed message (360-378-2171) or send an email to treasurer@sanjuancountywa.gov.
If you’re unsure what your property tax balance is or if you’ve already paid, you can use San Juan County’s property search feature by going to the parcel search page. You can view amounts due for 2025 and prior years, if applicable.
Online payments
Accessed via the Treasurer’s Office webpage, a new online portal allows you to pay for multiple properties at once (while avoiding multiple transaction fees!), schedule on-time payments, receive an instant receipt and create an account to make future transactions even easier. The online portal aims to make paying and processing taxes much faster, easier and more cost-effective.
Use the online portal to pay your taxes:
• Visit the Treasurer’s Office website at https://www.sanjuancountywa.gov/314/Treasurer.
• Click the menu option on the left, “Pay Taxes Online”: https://www.paydici.com/san-juan-county-treasurer-wa/search/property-tax-group.
• Use the link to the online portal to begin creating an account.
Other payment methods
Payments may also be made using our automated phone attendant by calling 877-816-9299. These are contracted services, and processing fees apply:
• Credit Card processing fee is 2.7%.
• Debit Card processing fee is 0.95%.
• eCheck processing fee is $2.00.
Property tax payments received in person, via our secure payment box or postmarked after the Oct. 31 deadline are automatically charged 1% interest on outstanding balances. Please plan ahead to avoid interest charges.
A secure payment drop box is located at the courthouse entrance on the sheriff’s side of the building. If mailing your payment, the envelope must be federally postmarked on or before Oct. 31 for the payment to be considered on time. Keep in mind, although you place your payment in the mailbox, federal postmarks often happen the next business day. If mailing your payment less than a week prior to the deadline, we strongly recommend having your envelope hand-canceled by the postal agent.
Mailed payments may be addressed to:
San Juan County Treasurer
PO Box 639
Friday Harbor, WA 98250
Taxpayers enrolled in our autopay program should expect the second half payment for the amount listed on your second half tax payment coupon to be debited from your account on Oct. 27.
