Smells of popcorn filled the air of the Lopez Center for Community and the Arts on March 16, where the last Community Performance Night of the season took place.

These shows were created by Janet Baltzer, LCCA director, and Robert Harrison, LCCA assistant director. They felt that it was important to bring people together and share their talents with others. Community Performance Night has been going on since October of 2011 and has become a big success. They plan on taking a break for the summer and spring seasons and to start up these performances again in the fall.

Vilina Sanburn-Bill and Lia Price began the night with their talent. Sanburn-Bill sang with the accompaniment of Price. “She sounds like a disney princess,” a member of the crowd said about Sanburn-Bill. Price was not to be left unnoticed either. Her skill, composure and technique on the piano left many in amazement.

The next talent was a group of small children dressed in sparkly fairy outfits. It didn’t matter what this dance group did, their charm and smiles won over the hearts of the audience. Their slight disarray and scramble to be in the right formation made their performance even more adorable.

Various ballet, hip hop, and tap dances filled up the rest of the night. Groups of all ages had the chance to show off their hard work, passions and abilities.
