Lopez AA Meetings

Lopez AA meetings at the Children’s Center: Monday, Big Book, 7:30 p.m.; Friday, 12×12, 7:30 p.m.; Saturday, noon. Puget Sound

Please join the conversation about restoring the health of Puget Sound by 2020. The draft plan, which identifies the priorities and actions necessary to protect and restore Puget Sound will be presented. They will also discuss the priority actions for the San Juan Islands. The final plan will be adopted and forwarded to the State Legislature and the Governor on December 1. Lopez Library, Nov. 10 from 5-7 p.m.

Garden club lecture

Lopez Island Gardeners Extraordinaire Mary Hayten and Kevin Murphy are presenting “Gardening with Pacific Northwest Native Plants.” Learn to utilize native plants in sound and imaginative ways to transform the garden into an attractive, low-maintenance, water-wise landscape. Thursday, Nov. 13, downstairs below the fire station where the Senior Center is located. Coffee and goodies at 9:30 a.m. Meeting at 10 a.m. Please come. Everyone is welcome! Orcas

Basic food assistance

On November 10 and 17 from 1 to 4 p.m. at the Orcas Island Library, Claire Nollman an American Corp Member who is currently working at the Lopez Island Family Resource Center, will be available to assist individuals who would like to apply for Basic Food. SJ Conservation Dist. meeting
