Exploring Music with Young Children: Parents with children birth to age 3 are invited to come and explore the sounds of music with special guest Kiki Martin. The event is a first in a series of Baby and Me programs for families with small children on the island. Lopez Island Garden Club Meeting: 9:30 a.m. at Woodmen Hall. The presenter is Alyse Ortega who will be demonstrating floral arrangements in the Japanese Ikibana style and also in the traditional English style. Members and guests are encouraged to bring flowers, foliage, seed pods, etc. from their gardens and a container if they would like to create their own arrangement. All are welcome. Sat Sept. 12

United Way Day of Caring: 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., registration in Lopez Village Park. Come join United Way of San Juan County in their Day Of Caring. The Lopez-based project this year is an island-wide clean-up campaign. The project will end about 2 p.m. If you want to participate but can’t be there for the on-site registration, please call Meg Singer before Saturday to make alternate arrangements.

KLOI second Annual Live Radio Broadcast: See a week of KLOI-LPFM squeezed into a little over an hour on the stage of the Community Center, starring the hosts of the Community Radio Station. This is a benefit for KLOI-LPFM and kicks off the annual membership drive. Free. 7:30 p.m., LCCA.

Total Experience Gospel Choir: The Total Experience Gospel Choir bursts with love, joy and enthusiasm. It is hailed as one of the Pacific Northwest`s finest soulful ensembles. Pastor Patrinell Staten Wright started the group as a gospel music class at Seattle`s Franklin High School in 1973. Tickets in advance: Adult $12, Youth $8. County Council Member Meeting with Bob Myhr: Please join San Juan County Council Member Bob Myhr from 4 – 5:30 p.m., Lopez Library, to discuss county property tax increase ballot proposal, budget reductions, Lopez Village changes, fireworks, Odlin south, BLM lands, ferries, and other county issues. Everyone welcome.

Ellen and Wendy: A Show of Paintings “Ellen & Wendy”, a show of paintings. Opening Reception for Ellen Fisher and Wendy Marshall. Friday, September 18 from 5 – 7 p.m., at Colin Goode Gallery and Studio, 95 Village Road. All proceeds from sales go to the artists for their continuing art education.

Evening Meals: A Moveable Feast This month only, Evening Meals will be located at the Lopez Community Center due to construction at the Lopez School. Be a part of this festive community gathering that supports local, seasonal and sustainably grown food from our island farms. Kim Bast and Jean Perry have created an inspired menu that reflects the bountiful fall harvest. Donations only – everyone is welcome. Tai Chi moving back to the Community Center

Starting Sept. 9 the Tai Chi class will be meeting at the Community Center. Advanced classes are at 9 a.m. and beginning classes are at 10 a.m. For more information contact Terry Marshall at 468-4340.
