An interactive discussion/workshop on Co-creating Community Economics by Jeff Clearwater is Sunday, Aug. 5, 5-8:30 p.m. with finger food potluck items at Down Dog Yoga Studio, Midnight Farm, 3042 Center Road. Donations are welcome.

The lecture will look at wealth from multiple perspectives, identify/name different levels of wealth from the systemic perspective (tradeable, measurable, acknowledgeable) and explore the world of “multi-currencies” and their role in creating community-wealth at all levels, transcending and including money.

“We will use this new understanding to assist us to identify the wealth in our communities and inspire us to create the tools (currencies) that can help us to shape, enable and make wealth visible,” say organizers. “We will also explore our own personal relationship with wealth as well as the interpersonal and community dynamics this relationship allows and empowers. We will also explore how to apply our knowledge in practical next steps for creating and sharing abundance in this dance we call community.”

Clearwater is a co-founder and council member for the Ecovillage Network of the Americas, has traveled extensively to provide  whole systems design, appropriate technology and renewable energy consulting for ecovillages and sustainability projects all over the world and has taught appropriate technology and new paradigm economics in permaculture and ecovillage design courses, and has recently been on tour developing and presenting “Community Economics as a Path of the Heart.”
