A four course salmon dinner will be served and Lopez High School and student athletes will be on hand to help out. All proceeds go to “The Pack.”

The booster club was started in 2006 by Christine Dye and Deanna Brant, both Lopez alumni who know just how important the athletic programs are here on the island. With budget cuts constantly looming on the horizon, athletics are often the first program to run short or to be downsized. One of the main goals of “The Pack” is to help the Lopez Lobos with things that they otherwise might have to do without, from new uniforms and equipment to a new scoreboard for the soccer and football teams.

Another focus of the group has been to promote Lobo pride and spirit throughout the school and the community, something they hope the Maroon and Gold Dinner will help them do.

“We’d love to have lots of folks attend the event, even if they don’t have students enrolled at Lopez High School. In fact, it’s those people that we’d really encourage to attend,” said Brant. “We’d like them to have the opportunity to meet some of the amazing student athletes that so proudly represent our island community each time they take the field, court or course. We’d like to invite those same people to join us at games at school throughout the school year. We want everyone to feel welcome and join in the Lobo spirit! Every person that has attended a game that I’ve invited them to has come to me later and said how much fun it was, but that they never would have come on their own. Now they can’t wait for the next game!”

Tickets are $40 and are available from Christine Dye, Deanna Brant, Ye Scurvy Dogs Home Port or from The Lopez Islander Resort.  You can email “The Pack” at: LoboBooster@hotmail.com or call 468-2359.
