This very popular non-competitive bicycle tour of Lopez Island is brought to you by the Lopez Island Chamber of Commerce and is the kickoff event for cycling in the San Juan Islands. There are four routes (5, 12, 17 & 31 mile) that are marked with our unique recycled bicycles with two starting points – Odlin Park at the north end close to the ferry landing, and Lopez Community Center.
There are three designated rest areas along the route that offer great bakery treats provided by the Galley Restaurant, fresh organic fruit provided by Blossom Grocery, water and other assistance if needed. Rest areas open at 8 a.m.
All routes end in the Village at Lopez Community Center.
Commemorative artwork by well-known local artist Christa Malay has been designed for posters, T-shirts, sweatshirts and other merchandise that will be available for sale on-site as well as at the Chamber office.
Registration is limited to 900 riders and has been sold out before the event for the past several years.
To find out about registration availability, call the chamber at 468-4664.
Tour de Lopez is a fundraising event for the Chamber of Commerce to cover the costs of operating and maintaining the public rest rooms, showers, and grounds in Village Park.
In addition to the Tour de Lopez there will be The Bite of Orcas, April 25, 4:30 – 8 p.m. at Lopez Center, features bites from Vortex, Southend Restaurant, The Galley, Adios Tacos, North Shore Seafoods and Just heavenly Fidge Factory.
