Workshop at LIFRC

The Lopez Island Family Resource Center will run a three-part “Beginning Excel” workshop starting Feb. 28.

Instructor Susan Young will teach the basic beginner-level class in a hands-on introduction to the versatile Microsoft Excel program

This class is appropriate for those interested in using Excel for personal use or small businesses.

Young will teach participants how to create and format multiple sheet workbooks, work with formulas, and create charts. Participants will also explore templates available in Office 2007 and online, including a checkbook spreadsheet and other practical, time-saving templates.

Young is a national consultant providing workshops and presentations in education, consulting, writing, and professional development. A resident of Lopez, she travels extensively for her business, and the LIFRC are pleased to offer her expertise to the Lopez community.

Students should be comfortable accessing programs on the computer and using an Internet browser. For ease of instruction, class will be taught on Excel 2007 for PCs.

If you need to borrow a laptop with Excel 2007 installed, the LIFRC will have some available.

Preregistration is required and there is a $35 fee for this workshop. Enrollment is limited to 12 participants; some scholarships are available for those in need.

The class will meet on Monday evenings, Feb. 28, March 7, and March 14, from 5:30-7:30 p.m. in the Lopez Island Library Meeting Room.
