Submitted by the Lopez Island School.
Lopez Island School will mark its 85th anniversary with a communitywide celebration over Memorial Day weekend, May 21-24. The milestone commemorates the 1941 consolidation of four island schools – Center School, Lopez Village, Mud Bay and Port Stanley – which created the Lopez Island School we know today!
For 85 years, the school has educated generations of “Lobos” through programs unique to our island. These include environmental and outdoor leadership, farm education, performing arts, international travel and Lobos athletics. The school remains the heart of the island for community, innovation and growth.
Planning is already underway for a Memorial Day weekend celebration to bring together former students, staff and friends. We invite all Lobos, past and present, near and far, whether you graduated from the Lopez Island School or attended for some of your school, to come home and celebrate.
Alumni involvement is essential. If you are a former student or staff member, please email your contact information to alumni@lopezislandschool.org.
Help us spread the word! Please share this announcement with former students, staff and friends. Mark your calendars now for Memorial Day weekend 2026!
